So hello there...
Welcome to my little blog Hello Yukon. My name is Cheryl and I live 25 kilometres outside of Whitehorse, in a little cabin with my hubby, Sean, and our 3 dogs, Cooper, Hank and Duchess.![]() |

So you may be wondering what the heck is a city girl from "The Big Smoke" doing living all the way North.
Well, I am here to tell you that I am just as surprised as you. Little did I know that a week's vacation in July 2013 would have me moving to the other side of the country, but that is exactly what it did!
We have a friend who has lived here for years and we thought, what the heck... we need to see the Yukon. So we booked our trip and packed our bags. My husband was sure we were going to find a slow moving, small hick town of rednecks and retirees. Boy were we in for a surprise!

I don't think we were home for more than a week when I said those magic words, "so you wanna move to Whitehorse?", and the answer I got was yes!
Tired of the city and the mundane 9 - 5 we decided to sell our home in Leslieville and give it a shot. Sean quit his job and spent the next year upgrading our house to sell in the fall of 2014. Once sold, we shipped the contents of the house as far west and north as possible and had it moved to our new home for when we arrived. On March 27th, we followed with 3 dogs in tow, spending 10 days touring our beautiful country.
We stopped to see the Big Nickle in Sudbury and the Terry Fox Memorial in Thunder Bay. We also stopped at a lot of gas stations during our 5,700 KM trip! As we got closer we saw lots of wildlife along the way, moose, buffalo, eagles, sheep, and caribou. It was definitely the best way to see Canada!
Finally on April 6th we arrived...
...I have a feeling we might be here to stay.
Thanks for reading.
